It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing. But don’t worry, the Copenhagen Jazz Festival does indeed have plenty of swing. Jazz giants such as Ben Webster, Stan Getz and Dexter Gordon have even lived in Copenhagen.
Since 1979 the city has been overflowing with the sound of all jazz genres in the streets, parks, cafés and clubs during Copenhagen Jazz Festival. For 10 days the festival creates a unique atmosphere and offers around 1000 concerts in 100 different venues from the legendary jazzhouse Jazzhus Montmartre to open air in Kongens Have (King’s Garden). In this period an estimated 250.000 people will enjoy the numerous jazzy tones.
Among the international stars in 2015 you find Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett who will perform on the open air stage in Tivoli. You can watch the concert from afar just for the admission to Tivoli or you can buy inner circle tickets to get closer to the stage.
You’ll easily get a lot of jazz for free just by wandering the streets of Copenhagen. Drop by famous places in the city to watch popular Danish jazz names like Jesper Thilo in Nyhavn, Nulle & Verdensorkestret at Vandkunsten and enjoy Pierre Dørge & New Jungle Orchestra and many more in Kongens Have where you can also bring a sandwich, relax on a blanket and have a picnic in the beautiful surroundings.
When: July 3-12 2015.
Copenhagen Jazz Festival starts the first Friday in July and runs for 10 days every year.
Where: The festival takes place all over town at both concerts venues, public squares and parks.
